Aaron and Nancy Mary Lindsey Crossley

Aaron Crossley was born in May 1858 and died December 4, 1928. Nancy Lindsey Crossley was born in April 1861 and died May 3, 1916. Aaron’s mother was Abigail Crossley who was born in February 1831, date of death unknown. Aaron and Nancy were the proud parents of eleven children; Cedie Marie, Pearl Abigail, George Washington, Della Ethel, Enoch Jessie, Emma Ester, Rosa May, Walter Eugene, Arthur Furman, Eva Nellie and Lindsey Crossley all of Glendale, S. C.

Cedie Marie Crossley was born in February 1887. (We have received the following information from Melissa Ray who is the great grandaughter of Cedie Marie Crossley.) She also sent David Beams Obituary:
Cedie Marie Crossley was first married to Jim Henry Vandiver and had 5 children who are now all deceased:
Anna Mary Vandiver Calhoun (Grandmother of Melissa Ray.)
Pearl Vandiver Wellman-Helton
Ruby Jeanette Vandiver Jones 
Fannie-Sue Vandiver
Jim Henry Vandiver

After the passing of Jim Henry Vandiver Sr., Cedie remarried to a man with the last name of Vassey. They had a son who is deceased.
Eugene Erivn Vassey

After the passing of Mr. Vassey, she married David Beams. The following is from his obituary.

DAVID B. BEAM, 70 died unexpectedly at his home in Ellenboro, NC.

MR. BEAM was a s/o the late CHARLIE and CHARLOTTE GREENE BEAM. He was a retired farmer and was of the Bapist faith.

Surviving are ; his wife, MRS. CEDIE BEAM; one son, JESSE LEE BEAM of Weamsee, S.C. -FAY of Forest City and A.M. BEAM of Ellenboro; one sister, MRS. FARRY BLAND of Caroleen; 6 stepchildren; 6 grandchildren.

The Hovis- Crowe Funeral home is in charge.

Cedie Marie lived in a her home near Ellenboro, NC and then lived in Gastonia, NC until her death in 1974.

Pearl Abigail Crossley was born in April, 1889 and married Minor Edmund Riddle of Glendale, S. C. They were the parents of three children; Alta, Wilson and Grace Riddle and were the adopted parents of James Crossley ( J.C.) Quinn. Minor Edmund Riddle died at age of 79 in October 1961. Pearl Abigail Crossley Riddle died at age of 98 in October 1987. 

George Washington Crossley was born in April 1891 and married Miss. Lillie Davis. They were the parents of five children; George W. Jr., Ruby, Lillian, Christine and Jessie Mae Crossley. Lillie Davis Crossley died at age of 49 in October 1937. George Washington Crossley died at age of 77 in November 1968. 

Della Ethel Crossley was born in September 1892 and married Boyce Dean White of Glendale, S. C. They were the adopted parents of Eugene Daniel Quinn White. Boyce Dean White died at age of 72 in June 1963. Della Ethel Crossley White died at age of 79 in April 1972. 


Enoch Jessie Crossley was born in August 1896 and married Miss. Minnie Mabry of Pacolet, S. C. They were the parents of five children; Mary, Ruth, Nellie, Bertie Mae and J. B. Crossley. Enoch Jessie Crossley died at age of 82 in June 1979. Minnie Mabry Crossley died at age of 83 in June 1985. 

Emma Ester Crossley , twin sister of Jessie was born in August 1896 and married Dave Beam of North Carolina. They were the parents of one child, Jessie Lee Beam. Date of Emma Ester’s Crossley Beam’s death unknown. 

Rosa May Crossley married Earnest Daniel Quinn of Converse, S. C. They were the parents of four children; Ruth May, Robert E. Lee, James (J.C.) Crossley and Eugene Daniel Quinn. Rosa May Crossley Quinn died at age of 21 on February 26, 1921. 

Walter Eugene Crossley was listed at 19 years of age in the 1920 census and married Miss. Pearl Sellars. They were the parents of six children; Walter, Lucille, Gertrude, James, Ralph and Shirley Crossley. Walter Eugene Crossley died at age of 94 in June 1995. Pearl Sellars Crossley died at age of 94 in February 1998. 

Authur Furman Crossley was listed at 16 years of age in the 1920 census and married Miss. Mary ---?---They were the parents of four children; Margaret, Furman, James and Millie Crossley. Arthur Furman Crossley died at age of 82 in February 1986. Mary Crossley died also in February 1986.three days apart. 

Eva Nellie Crossley was listed at 14 years of age in the 1920 census and married Ernest Daniel Quinn following the death of his first wife, Rosa May Crossley Quinn. They became the parents of seven children; Nellie Margret, Maybell, Ethel Conelia, Mildred Lavina, Ernest Jr. Elsie May and Daniel Arthur Quinn. Eva Nellie Crossley Quinn died at age of 93, December, 1998. Ernest Daniel Quinn died at age of 90, February, 1986. 

Lindsey Crossley was listed at 11 years of age in the 1920 census and married Miss. Susie Crocker of Glendale, S.C. They became the parents of three children; Harold, Kenneth and Elaine Crossley. Lindsey Crossley died at age of 85- September 1993. Susie Crocker Crossley died at age of 86- December 1998. 

Crossley was a prominent family name in the Glendale community for some 100 years. Many relatives continue to live in the area. While some records were taken from U.S. Census by this writer, we are indebted to Ethel Quinn Smith, granddaughter of Aaron and Nancy Crossley and Emma Riddle Jett, their great granddaughter, for most of these names and dates.
